COMMECS
THE OLD STUDENT'S ASSOCIATION

ZOOM WEBINAR 13TH JANUARY 2021

Commecs Old Students Association (COSA)” conducted a zoom webinar with different speakers to discuss the socio economic impact of the pandemic and how companies and individuals can turn adversity into opportunity.

Mr. Waqar the first speaker of the session discussed how leadership style has evolved in Pakistan as a consequence of the pandemic where remote working culture became a necessity and this further led to the filtering down of empowerment from a narrow base to the cadre at each management level. Leaders began to empower their subordinates more, especially given the lack of physical contact and engagement,

Mr.Khushnood Aftab the third speaker of the session spoke about the vital role technology has played during this crisis and has helped businesses with resolving issues and gaining new opportunities. He held up the current scenario as an example of how technological advancement has greatly enabled leaders such as Amazon, Zoom, Google to expand despite the lockdowns and challenges. The importance of upgrading ourselves technologically was never more acute than in the current environment, he said. Secondly, he also asked for greater focus on Pakistan’s tourism and the need to promote it on different platforms.

Mr. Sohail Zindanee, the second speaker of the session , interestingly felt that COVID did present a challenge, but the greater challenge to Pakistan’s economy and people was that people were complacent and felt that they were guaranteed a living without hard work.

He also talked about the need for being generous, stating that “ generosity is very important these days, by making people’s life easier, as well as by organizations and its management being generous with what they know and by transferring this knowledge downstream to its employees”.
